Hedout with The Skinny Culture & Entertainment Guide

Edinburgh's vibrant entertainment, culture and arts scene thrives in word-of-mouth venues and tucked away down side streets.

We teamed up with The Skinny - Scotland's leading entertainment and listings guide with a monthly readership of over 200,000 - to give Edinburgh a mobile entertainment listings application, complete with reviews and directions from the good folks at The Skinny. Since not all of us are lucky enough to wear iPhones, this application was required to be available on all mobile internet devices.

The Product

"Hedout with The Skinny" is a mobile guide through the vast list of events provided by The Skinny and also shows off places such as cafés or museums. We trimmed down the main menu to five useful options: Eat, Drink, Arts & Comedy, Music, and Clubbing. It's simplistic design enables a user to find out what's on nearby, what's happening later and pinpoints all of these locations on a map.

We established from handset penetration and user demographics that the best choice was to produce an iPhone application, an Android application (Google OS), and a website optimized for Nokia, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and all other web enabled phones. Constant user feedback provides new features for the future, but version one has already established itself in the mind of the beta audience.
